It’s halloween time

It’s that time of year again. The end of October means……….. Christmas ball balls (or is it bawl balls?) and tinsel on the supermarket shelves. All nicely nestled up alongside hundreds of huge pumpkins for the celebration of All Hallows Eve. Dont you find it interesting how our culture is evolving, with different religous / pagan festivals embraced by all (providing ther’s chocolate involved). Our bin is overflowing with pumpkin flesh, and I do wonder about the ethics of throwing away so much good food. Next year I’m going to learn some good pumpkin recipes, either that or it’s going to be potatoe lanterns in the window.. The one thing that I really like about halloween is that the kids get to meet more of the people in the neighbourhood and that has got to be a good thing. We haven’t been egged yet!

I like surprises, trick or treat, summer rain, winter sun etc but I could live without the Christmas merchandise in October. It wouldn’t be so bad if it all came with dose of Christmas spirit, but for many, I think that it’s born out of a weeks respite from the 9 to 5. I’ve tried to put some of these thoughts into a recently written song “Sweet Love.”

Apparently there are over twenty countries that celebrate a National Kindness Day. Lets hear it for altruism, and random acts of kindness!

Happy Halloween
